Pathways is a community-based adult day treatment program that provides psychiatric services to residents of Southeastern Massachusetts. The program offers an active, structured milieu designed to treat individuals experiencing the pervasive effects of mental illness and co-occurring substance abuse issues. Through a diverse schedule of psychotherapeutic groups, clients are able to address their difficulties and develop effective coping strategies in a supportive environment.
The program serves as a therapeutic alternative to inpatient care, providing a continuum of comprehensive and innovative treatment and recovery services to those in acute distress as well as those needing extended periods of support. Each of the program's activities promotes the development of coping and problem-solving skills, encouraging each client to take more responsibility for his/her life while striving to live as independently as possible.
This active treatment approach establishes an individualized plan of care that addresses symptom management and functional skill acquisition, all towards the goal of enhancing quality of life in the client's living, learning, working and social environments.
The program is operated by an experienced team of mental health professionals, including nurses, social workers, expressive therapists, licensed mental health counselors, and psychiatrists. The program coordinates any needed medication services through the agency's medical services team. Each client is assigned a primary treatment coordinator who coaches them on effectively utilizing the program's services, and acts as a liaison to other care providers.
Premiering in 1977 and produced collaboratively with peers and mental health workers, The Other Side is a Taunton public access show that explores current issues that affect people with mental illness.
